- Is anything recorded?
- No. The meter reads your microphone in the page and draws a bar from it. No audio is stored, and none of it leaves your device — there is no upload and no server involved.
- Why can't my browser hear my microphone?
- Usually permission: the site needs microphone access, which you grant from the padlock icon in the address bar. Failing that, check the headset is plugged in and unmuted at the switch, and that no other app is holding the device — many operating systems give one app exclusive use.
- Do I need a special microphone for calls?
- No. A laptop's built-in microphone or any wired headset is enough. A headset usually sounds better to the other side because it keeps your speaker's output from feeding back into the microphone.
- Does Kitaphone need a microphone?
- Yes — calls run through your browser over WebRTC, so your microphone is how the other side hears you. Your browser asks permission the first time you place a call.
